Almost all of the villages are perched in the mountains, sheltered from the invaders of the past. All of them are very lively with a lot going on and carefully restored.
Paintings adorn the facades of Apricale, the alleyways play host to artisans, the Dolceaqua bridge amazes visitors with its architecture, the story of Cassini is set out on several walls at Périnaldo.

Before setting off on any hike, it is advisable to check the weather forecast. You will also need to take account of any exceptional circumstances: the period when heatwaves are likely (July/August) is best avoided.

Access and parking

Vintimille- Head towards Cuneo via the Roya valley. Airole is the first village in the Roya valley after Trucco.
