A tricky hike (800m of climbing), heading through the valley of Empuonrame. The end at Pas de l'Arpette (2511m) is one of the entrances towards the Vallée des Merveilles, from Vésubie. Plenty of effort and strong emotions are guaranteed from this hike.

Countet Bridge, the starting point for this hike, is located at the foot of Les Gravières and was where the legendary series “Belle and Sebastien” was filmed.

You will also go under the penstock which supplies the hydro-electric plant at Gordolasque.

From the carpark at La Gordolasque, cross Countet Bridge (1692m) and take a right turn at marker 412. This is the way to Pas de l'Arpette (2511m), which you will reach after crossing the valley of Empuonrame.
You can subsequently head into the Vallée des Merveilles, where guided visits in the company of official Mercantour National Park guides to look at the 40 000 rock carvings, the oldest of them dating from the Copper Age and beginning of the Bronze Age. Follow the same route for the return journey.
