It stands on a small rocky promontory, overlooked to the west by the imposing face of Cima della Maledia.

To the north, the slope—composed of rocks in places covered with alpine meadow vegetation—descends to the stream below (the Rio Pagarì), while the view stretches across the entire Alpine arc on the horizon: from Monviso (north-northwest) to Gran Paradiso (north).
The structure, a single-story building of wood and masonry with a large dry-stone wall on the north side to increase the floor space, features running water and solar panels.

Opening: June 15 to September 15; other periods by reservation
Beds: 24 in three dormitory-style rooms; three restrooms; hot showers available
Winter shelter: emergency shelter with 6 mattresses, equipped with an emergency phone, open when the refuge is closed
Facilities: bar and dining at C.A.I. rates, half-board, public telephone and emergency telephone
Cuisine: efforts are made to accommodate guests’ specific dietary needs
