Rifugio Havis De Giorgio - Mondovì 1761 m
The hut, owned by the Mondovì section of the CAI, was inaugurated in June 1929; subsequently expanded and restored, it was also dedicated to the memory of Havis De Giorgio, a mountaineer from Monregale who died in 1939 in East Africa. The refuge was completely rebuilt in 2008 and is powered by an environmentally friendly hydroelectric plant.
It is situated near the headwaters of the Ellero River in a pleasant grassy basin overlooked by Punta Havis De Giorgio and the Rocche del Pis, bold spurs of Cima delle Saline; it lies along the Giro del Marguareis hiking trail and serves as a stop on the Grande Traversata delle Alpi. Nearby are a rock climbing wall and a karst educational trail.
