Rifugio Mongioie 1555 m
The Mongioie massif (2,630 m) slopes down toward the refuge, featuring spectacular limestone formations up to 350 meters high, where you can enjoy climbing on beautiful rock.
The refuge is located along the Giro del Marguareis hiking trail and serves as a stopover on the Grande Traversata delle Alpi and the Via Alpina; it is accessible via an easy hike and serves as a starting point for numerous hiking destinations.
The refuge, an elegant two-story stone building constructed by members of the Albenga section of the C.A.I., was inaugurated in 1989 and completely renovated in 1998. It features photovoltaic panels and solar thermal panels to promote greater environmental sustainability.
Practical informations
Opening: Open daily from May 1 to October 30; weekends and holidays during the winter season (weather permitting)
Beds: 46, divided into two double rooms, four 6-bed dormitories, and two 8-bed dormitories; two shared bathrooms on the dormitory floor and two on the restaurant floor; indoor showers with hot water
Winter shelter: 4 beds, available only during the off-season
Facilities: bar, restaurant, half-board, full-board, group discounts (over 30 people) and for scouts; dogs allowed only in the dining room; children’s playground; climbing gym; horse stalls; guided tours with a mountain guide or mid-mountain guide
Cuisine: home-style, with alternative meals available for vegetarians and those with food intolerances
Wheelchair access: transportation to the refuge available upon request; accommodations and bathrooms accessible for people with disabilities
